The Cardiac Sonography Supervisor will oversee the accreditation and quality of pediatric and fetal echocardiograms for Packard Children’s Health Alliance (PCHA) outpatient pediatric cardiology practices. Responsibilities include daily management/staffing of the cardiac sonographers, maintenance of ultrasound equipment/upgrades, implementation of imaging protocols, coordination of quality improvement, and collaboration with the site lead sonographers at the various PCHA sites. The Cardiac Sonography Supervisor will also be responsible for training and supervising site sonographers to adhere to protocols and will spend time in each PCHA pediatric cardiology practice performing outpatient transthoracic echocardiograms in neonates and children, as well as adults with congenital heart disease when needed.
The Supervisor will also assist with developing specific departmental goals, standards and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization; manage sonographer staff relations, including performance, staff satisfaction and conflict management; coordinate and oversee scheduling, recruitment and payroll, as well as daily workflow of staff; and assess the quality and performance of the pediatric cardiac sonographers and provide regular feedback regarding image quality, protocol adherence and overall job performance. This position will work closely with the Pediatric Cardiology Echo Lab Director to maintain quality, advance and educate the lab. Will also prepare new and renewal applications for Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) accreditation and respond to IAC audits; supervise quality improvement meetings and implement quality metrics as described by the IAC and various medical professional societies; assist the Pediatric Cardiology Echo Lab Director in the monitoring of appropriateness of outpatient echocardiogram orders and in the tracking of abnormal fetal echocardiograms to correlate findings with postnatal echocardiograms; and assess the individual needs of each PCHA site in regards to echocardiogram services, operations and quality.
To qualify, you must be a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, with credential in Pediatric Echocardiography and completion of necessary CME required for current three-year licensing period. Ideally candidates will have two to five years of experience working in management at an IAC-accredited pediatric echocardiography laboratory. Fetal echocardiography experience is desired, as well as previous supervisory experience. Will be required to travel to other affiliated locations located in the East Bay and North Bay, including San Francisco.
